as a mother to an 11 year-old trans-girl, it is not only my job to learn what an ally is and how to be one…but also to spread the word to other hominids…
my love of an enlightened society spurred me on even before the revelation from my child.
it is indeed a curiosity of our species that we would ever seek to turn on our own members!
On being a cisgender ally to the transgender community.
a wonderful post by a blogger i follow. couldn’t have made the point better so i pressed it here for my followers.
especially the last few paragraphs tell of scenarios about which i as a mom to a young trans-girl have nightmares.
hopefully by the time she is grown and has left home enough enlightenment and attitude changes will have occurred in society at large to keep her safe.
until then, i will warn her… i must seek to prepare her…and i will never stop advocating for her and trying to educate other hominids.
